Elma Resendez

Elma Resendez, 77, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on July 11, 1947, in Harlingen, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Jaime and Francisca G. Resendez.

A devout Catholic, Elma found joy in her faith, spending time reading the Bible and listening to religious and Tex Mex music. She had a passion for creativity, often painting eggshells during Easter for her great nieces and great nephews, a testament to her deep affection for her family.

Elma is preceded in death by her parents, Jaime and Francisca Resendez; her sisters, Edelmira Maldonado, Elizabeth Mendiola, and Eleticia Resendez; as well as her grandparents, Refugio Gonzalez (Mariana M. Gonzalez) and Encarnacion Resendez (Santos Moreno Resendez). She is survived by her siblings, Evila R. Pedraza, Elvia Cuevas, Elida Morales, Enedelia Lucio, Heriberto Resendez, and Rosie Rodriguez and Leodon Reyna, whom she raised, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins from the Gonzalez and Resendez families.

The Resendez family will be receiving friends and relatives on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening. Services for Elma will conclude on Wednesday evening.
