Ellis C. Harlin

April 18, 1953 — July 26, 2024

Ellis Clinton Harlin was 71 and lived in Laguna Vista, Texas where he passed away on July 26, 2024 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cancer.

Ellis was born in Canoga Park, California on April 18, 1953 to Rogers and Flo Harlin. Ellis had a great childhood filled with fun adventures with his lifelong friends and love of riding motocross which he continued into his mid 60’s. Ellis had one brother Dennis, who married Linda. They later moved to Utah and raised 6 kids. This enticed Ellis to leave Cali and move to Utah.

In Cedar CIty, Utah, Ellis not only fell in love with the great outdoors but also met the love of his life, Tanny. They married in a patch of Aspen trees on Cedar Mountain surrounded by all their friends and family. They had three kids Tanel, Sloan and Sagan. They raised their kids to love the outdoors, hunting and fishing and enjoyed being together with all their great friends. Ellis was so proud of his kids and the great people they turned out to be. He loved being involved in his kids' lives and activities and helping others. He was a coach to many kids in little league and swimming.

They later moved to Ivins and started their own construction cleaning business which they ran for 30 years before retiring. After spending 30 years in the St. George area, Ellis built many lasting and meaningful friendships. He continued to stay in touch with many of his friends from Southern Utah, even after relocating to Laguna Vista, Texas, where he and Tanny retired with their two Cavalier Spaniels.

Ellis was survived by his wife Tanny, daughter Tanel Contratto (husband Brent), son Sloan Harlin, and daughter Sagan Harlin. His greatest joy, his granddaughters Braelen and Remi Contratto, along with his two beloved Cavalier Spaniels, Griffin and Keely, In addition to his brother Dennis (wife Linda), six nieces and nephews and their families.

Ellis was diagnosed with AML on May 24, 2024. He passed surrounded by his family with his dogs on his lap. He asked to be cremated and there will not be any formal funeral services. If you knew Ellis, you know he would want you to gather a bunch of friends together and toast a cold one in his name.
