Elena (Nena) S. (Sanchez) Ornelas

Elena (Nena) S. Ornelas, 77, went home to our Lord at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Nena was born on June 27, 1940 to Luis & Rosita Sanchez.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Enrique Ornelas; children, Marta, Martin, Miguel, Mauricio and Moses; her beloved 17 grandchildren; her siblings, Rafael Sanchez, Antonia Quiroz, Rosie Espinoza, Luis Sanchez and Gabriel Sanchez.

Nena was a much-loved member of the Catholic Daughters of America, talented artist and cake decorator at La Especial Bakery.  She and Enrique operated La Especial Bakery in downtown San Benito for many years.

Elena devoted herself to her family, countless children, and to our Lord in her faithful devotion to her Catholic faith.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at St Benedict’s Catholic Church in San Benito. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
