Eleanor A. Tripp

April 15, 1929 — January 16, 2013

Eleanor Adeane Tripp, 83, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2013.
Eleanor was born April 15, 1929 in Floyd County, Iowa to John and Ethel (Osgood) Toepfer.  She graduated from high school and then married Darwin Lyle Tripp on August 12, 1949. Eleanor was employed by The Oliver Tractor Co. in Charles City, Iowa as a secretary and then went on to work for the Mantoon Cemetery in Illinois from 1974 to 1975 . She was also employed by the Dress Shop in Mantoon and then moved to Erie, Pa. where she worked for the  Fairview School District
Eleanor was a lifetime member to the United Methodist Church of Charles City, Iowa, a member of the United Methodist Women’s Golden Circle  in Erie, Pa.and a standing member of the Elks Club. She enjoyed doing church crafts, cross word puzzles, and home network shopping. Eleanor loved westerns, making homemade cards for family and friends and, Scherenschnitte (German scissor art).She enjoyed  scratch off tickets, and going out to eat; She especially loved going to church  and breakfast on  Sunday mornings.. She also enjoyed football, Nascars and watching most sports.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents John and Ethel Toepfer; husband, Darwin Lyle Tripp; son, Gregory Allen Tripp; grandson, Christopher Tripp; brother Verle Toepfer and two sisters, Ruth Hargrave and Leola (Lee) Hyde.
She is survived by her three children; Jill Ann Stroeble of Herreid, South Dakota, Cynthia Louise Tripp of Harlingen, Texas and Charles Darwin Tripp and wife Karen of Harlingen; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 12 pm to 9 pm with the family present from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 9 pm and on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 8:30 am to 3 pm with the family present from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Celebration of Life service  will be held Friday, January 25, 2013, 4 pm, at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in La Feria, Texas with Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Tripp, Brian Tripp, and Chuck Hyde.
The family requests, memorial contribution to be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38108 and the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
