Edwardo "Eddie" Varela

Edwardo Varela, 63, passed away on July 19, 2020 after a brief illness.  He was born on November 23, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Roberto Varela, Sr. and Adelaida M. Gonzalez.

He was a proud graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1976.  Edward was an avid fan of Greyhound football and would travel to see them play.  He also loved going to the movies. Edwardo was a Christian and a member of Cross Church in San Benito.

His parents, Roberto Sr. and Adelaida Varela, preceded Edwardo in death.

Left to treasure Edwardo’s memory are his girlfriend, Petra Cortez; his daughter, Adelaida Varela; his stepchildren, Eddeka Mesa, Abel Eric Mesa, Marissa Olivarez, and Clarissa Hernandez; ten step-grandchildren; and his brother, Roberto Varela, Jr.

Edwardo’s family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin at 7 o’clock Monday evening.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
