Edward Mead Upton

Edward Mead Upton ,age 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 9,2016. He was born June 12, 1924, in Refugio, Texas to Arthur and Mary Clare Upton.
Mead loved the outdoors; if he was not hunting he was fishing. After 35 years with Transcontinental Gas and Pipeline (TRANSCO) he retired to the piney woods of East Texas until his move 2 years ago to Los Fresnos, Texas. Mead was known for his humor and was quite the prankster; Mead and Betty enjoyed their travels and mead loved storytelling about their many adventures together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosalee McGuill, brothers Arthur Upton, and Robert Upton, and son Edward Mead Upton Jr.
His is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Upton, son Joseph Blane (Susan) Upton, Daughter-in-law Linda Upton, granddaughters Megan (Eric) Moses, Maranda Upton, Hannah Upton, great-granddaughter Madison Upton as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, the 11th of August 2016, beginning at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, the 20th of August 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 1008 S Alamo St, Refugio, TX.
