Edward Lee Hedgecock

July 7, 1935 — April 10, 2017

Edward Lee (Pete) Hedgecock, 81, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on April 10th, 2017 due to cancer and heart disease.
Pete was born in Durant, Oklahoma on July 7, 1935, the son of James Arthur and Jewel Marie Hedgecock.
Pete was married to Mary Jo Cockrell of Rio Hondo, Texas; they were married for forty-nine years.
Pete served in the United States military, first in the U.S. Army and then in the Air Force stationed in Korea and then serving in the war in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and retired from service in 1973. Later in life he worked at Texas State Technical College from which he retired. He and Mary Jo loved to travel to the Western mountainous states where they even volunteered for the U.S. Forest Service. Both loving the Rocky Mountains. They were active in their church and were supporters of the SonLife Broadcasting Network.
He is survived by his two sons, Wallace and Jerry Hedgecock and other family and friends.
Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Jo who passed away on April 8, 2009.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Rio Hondo Municipal Cemetery on Friday, April 14th.
Memorial donations may be given to the SonLife Broadcasting Network (SonLifetv.com), of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
