Edelmira (Resendez) Maldonado

Edelmira Maldonado, 76, peacefully passed from this life on October 20, 2020 at 76 years of age.  She was born to the late Jaime Resendez and Francisca Gonzalez Resendez on April 1, 1944 in San Benito, Texas.

Edelmira had a servant’s heart; she was a loving, caring, generous person.  She was a Christian and found great joy in serving others. For many years, she worked as a caregiver.  Edelmira enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and friends.  She often cooked meals for a neighbor who was ill or for a family who had recently lost a loved one.  Edelmira’s loving hands also created many a beautiful, crocheted works of art.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Maldonado; granddaughter, Priscila Peralez; parents, Jaime and Francisca Resendez; and sister, Elizabeth Mendiola.

Left to treasure Edelmira’s memory are her children, Mary (Jose Arce) Claudio, Maria Elena Maldonado, Rene (Irene) Maldonado, Rosie (Joe) Rodriguez, Irene (Juan) Cortez, Leticia (Martin) Vegamacias, Alma Maldonado, Jose Salvador Maldonado, Julio Maldonado; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Elma Resendez, Evila Pedraza, Elvia Cuevas, Elida Morales; brothers, Eddie Resendez and Enie Lucio.

Edelmira’s family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Live service will begin Thursday evening at 7 o’clock. A graveside service and interment will take place on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Irma Alcazar, Daniel Rodriguez, Jody Lee Clayton, Julio Maldonado, Jr., Jeremiah Maldonado, and Elijah Maldonado.  Joe Rodriguez, Jr. and Ruben Maldonado will serve as honorary pallbearers.
