Eddie N. Carlisle, Jr.
Eddie N. Carlisle, Jr. was born in Magnolia, Mississippi, on March 24, 1927, son of Eddie (Bill) N. Carlisle, Sr. and Clara Mae Fuller Carlisle. Eddie passed into Eternal Rest on December 17, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona. Eddie had one brother, Mack Dale Carlisle (deceased) and three sisters, Ernestine Keller (deceased), Beverly Sharon Frost (deceased), and Mae Alice Thompson, who lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
Eddie married Billie Sue Ball (deceased) and had three children: Jim Carlisle (Valerie) who resides in Sahuarita, Arizona; Judy Carlisle Hooker (Larry) who lives in New Braunfels, Texas; and Perry Michael Carlisle (deceased). He is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie joined the U.S. Army on June 8, 1945, and was stationed in Greenland, Denmark. In August 1946, he transferred to the Army National Guard where he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. In later years, Eddie transferred to the Army Reserves where he served many years as Company Commander in Harlingen, McAllen, and Brownsville. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He began his sales career with Aldridge-Washmon Implement Company and then worked for Alamo Cement Company for thirty-two years, retiring from sales at age 67. His sales territory covered all South Texas, from the Rio Grande Valley to Victoria to Laredo.
For fifty plus years, Eddie was a member of the Harlingen Elks Lodge, the Eastern Star, American Legion #205, Grand Commandery of Knights of Templar Corpus Christi #57, the Grand Royal Arch, the Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of Texas. Eddie was also a Shriner and a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas #1132.
Eddie was a Baptist and deacon at the Second Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas. He had many friends who loved his dry humor and great laugh. Though he spent his final years in Arizona near his son, he considered Harlingen his home.
Graveside services will be held at the mausoleum at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 11 a.m.
