Earl Leroy Leffelman Jr., 86, passed away July 5, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX.
Earl was born November 12, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Rev. Earl Leroy Leffelman Sr. and Gladys Lucille Arnette Leffelman. Earl served in the United States Army Air Force, 494th Bomb Group Heavy, during 1944-1946 stationed in Palau and later Okinawa conducting missions on the B-24 Liberator.  After WWII Earl married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Eleanor Cooper, on June 1, 1947 in Carlinville, IL.  He and his twin brother Merle operated a laundry business in Carlinville during 1946-1959.  He was a carpet installer and later owned and operated Leffelman Carpet in Carlinville until his retirement in 1996.  He was a 42 year member of the Mt. Nebo Lodge No.76 in Carlinville.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Harlingen.  Earl loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Eleanor Cooper Leffelman on July 27, 2010, his parents, Rev. Earl Leroy and Gladys Lucille Leffelman, his sister, Juanita M. Leffelman McAndrew, his twin brother Merle L. “Bud” Leffelman, and his brother Richard G. “Doc” Leffelman.
Earl is survived by his children, Susan Kay Morse of Phoenix, AZ, Jill and husband Tom Pressler of Germantown, TN, Earl (Tad) Leroy Leffelman III of The Villages, FL; grandchildren Aaron Morse, Jason Morse, Rachel Pressler Randall, Travis Pressler; great grandchildren Robert Randall, Zachary Randall and William Pressler.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:00 at the First Christian Church, 421 S. 13th St., Harlingen, TX with the Rev. Mark Coppins officiating.
