Dunc Conly, 72, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his residence in Harlingen.
Dunc was born January 4, 1938 in Rodessa, Louisiana to Bud and Rubye Conly. Dunc attended school in Rodessa and graduated from Rodessa High School. He graduated from Northwestern Louisiana State University. Dunc coached football in Shreveport, Louisiana and Galveston, Texas at Ball High School. Before retiring, he became a vocational coordinator and director. He held many vocational education offices at the local and state level.
Dunc met his wife, Kay, in Galveston and later moved to Harlingen, Texas. Dunc enjoyed all sports, especially football. He was an avid Louisiana State University and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of many professional vocational organizations, the Elks Lodge and the Harlingen County Club Men’s Golf Association, where he enjoyed playing golf with a great group of guys for many years. Dunc’s other hobbies included fishing and cooking gumbo.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, daughter, Debra (Mitch) Howie, sons, Jim (Adalyn) Schillaci, Jerry (Kristy) Schillaci, Ron (Kathy) Conly, sister, Sandra (Ronnie) White, brother, Bill (Jeanie) Conly and grandchildren, Schuyler Howie, Cailan Howie, Gus Schillaci, Dixe Schillaci, Duke Schillaci, Ella Schillaci, Adam Schillaci, A.J. Schillaci, Jill Schillaci, Brandon Conly and Amanda Conly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Rubye Conly.
A reception will be held in Celebration of Dunc’s life at the home in Harlingen on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
