Harlingen, Marble Falls, TX:
Dorothy Madeley Taylor, age 89, a sixth generation Texan passed away September 14 in Marble Falls, TX. She is formerly a second generation resident of Harlingen, Texas.  She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Gene Taylor, sons Larry (Shirley) Taylor of Marble Falls, Robert Taylor of Dallas, and daughter Janelle Taylor of Buda, her grandson Joshua Taylor of Austin, her brother Neil Madeley (Shirley) of Georgetown, two nephews in Texas, a niece in Georgia, and a niece and nephews in Michigan. Other survivors include four step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
Dorothy graduated from Harlingen High and obtained a degree and lifetime teaching certificate from Texas A&I College in Kingsville. She worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Harlingen School District and later as a librarian at Austin Elementary School in Harlingen. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, beachcombing, and genealogy research. She also loved dogs of all kinds.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas with Pastor Jet Throckmorton officiating. A private graveside service will be held.
Remembrances can be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 310 E. Harrison, Harlingen, TX, to Alzheimer’s or Diabetes Research Associations, or to a charity of your choice.
The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful loving care she received while a resident at the Granite Mesa Nursing Home in Marble Falls and also at Country Oaks Assisted Living in Burnet.
