Dorothy (Dodie) Meade Fowler, 92, who died in Harlingen on Friday, May 25, 2007, was born August 1, 1914 to John and Margaret Cowles Ohrt at Baldwin, Long Island, New York.
She graduated from Tulsa Central High School, attended Oklahoma College for Women and received a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan, where she was affiliated with Alpha Omicron Pi.  Her career included New York Herald Tribune (1937), Abbott Kimball Company Ad Agency (1937 New York), Los Angeles County Administration (1938-1942), Lockheed Aircraft (1942-1945), Robert John Meade & Company AD Agency, Harlingen High School, Los Fresnos High School and Dodie Keller Ad Agency.
She was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, and Cameron County Child Welfare.  Her special interests were in the Arts and TIFT.  She served as chairman of the Cameron County Child Welfare Commission and on the boards of the Cameron County Historical Commission, the Rio Grande Council for the Arts and the Rio Grande Valley International Music Festival.  She was the recipient of the Charles Feldman “Charley” Award for her involvement in the Arts.
She also served as a lay reader and Eucharistic minister in the Episcopal Churches, St. Andrews, Port Isabel and St. Albans in Harlingen.  After the death of her husband Bob, she directed the TIFT for a number of years and was made an honorary director.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Robert John Meade, Edwin Keller and Francis Fowler; brothers, John B. Ohrt and Henry Ohrt.  Survivors are children, Jonathan Meade (Elena), Dorothea Pennington (Joe), Margaret Andrea (Daniel Harrison) Meade and Katherine Meade-Sauer (Doug); one sister, Margaret Packard of Maine; grandchildren Meagan Farris, Micaela Guinn, Melissa Lewis, Robert Meade, Matthew and Marjorie Meade, Spence, Tobin and Ellen Pennington and great-grandchild, Grant Farris.  Also, Kendra Meade and Ann Flory.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 2 p.m., at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Harlingen with Rev. Judy Sessions officiating.
Donations may be made to St. Albans Episcopal Day School.
