Doreen Burke Weiner

Doreen Burke Weiner, age 83, peacefully passed away on March 11, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas.

She was born on August 15, 1941, to the late William and Sara Burke in Edinburgh, Scotland. After the passing of her beloved husband, Albert, she owned and operated the Rialto Theater in downtown Harlingen until it closed in 1993. Doreen had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished dogs.

Doreen was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Weiner; her sons, Andrew Kester and Nicholas Lee Kester; her parents, William and Sara Burke; and her siblings, Ella Burke, Alex Burke, Maisie Sproule, and Leonard Burke.

She is survived by her children, Timothy Kester (Karen), Laurie Ridenoure, and Michael Kester (Debora); brother, Billy Burke and sister, Georgie Stewart, twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doreen’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tim Bothwell for his care, concern, and friendship over the years. They also extend their thanks to Maggie Zamora and Angelcare Homes of Harlingen for their compassionate and professional care.

Doreen’s family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. Services for Doreen will conclude at the funeral home.
