Dora C. Garcia entered peacefully into the Lord’s presence and eternal rest on Sunday, June 4, 2023, after 91 years of sharing her light with the world. She was surrounded by her loving family. Dora was born to Gilberto and Epitacia “Pilo” Hinojosa on December 8, 1931, in San Benito, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Cruz Garcia, her parents, and mother-in-law Isabel Garcia.
Dora is survived by her loving children, Cynthia (George) Garcia, Rosemary (Obed) Longoria, Jaime (Robin) Garcia, Jo Ann (Rolando) Rendon, and Cruz Garcia, Jr., her grandchildren, Kristen Longoria, Cristina (A.J.) Lozano, Nolan Rendon, Erica (J.P.) Rodriquez and Travis (Jenna) Garcia. She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Mia Lozano, Jake Rodriquez, and Elle Rodriquez.
Dora was a generous and kindhearted person. She was a role model to her children and instilled the importance of kindness and compassion. Dora had a positive outlook on life and had a great sense of humor. She had a love for music and dancing. Many people who knew Dora and Cruz shared how much they loved to watch them dance. They loved to travel and enjoyed visiting the scenic views of California and Nevada. She was the homemaker of the family and was an amazing cook. Her home was a perfect place for family gatherings and holiday parties. Dora loved sweets with ice cream being her favorite. She had a love for the outdoors and had a beautiful garden. Dora had a love for animals, especially her pets.
As an only child, she always longed for siblings. She would often say to her children, “You’re the siblings I never had.” Her sons-in-law were special and dear to her heart. She loved them as if they were her own.
Dora loved being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. Grandma D., as the grandchildren called her, played an important role in their upbringing. Her grandchildren remember her as the ultimate caregiver. She chauffeured them to and from school, practices, and made them homemade food and snacks. She took pride in helping raise them with unwavering support and unconditional love.
Dora enjoyed socializing with her friends and treasured her best friend, Lencha. She had a great relationship with her neighbors.
Mom, you were the best mom ever! You leave us with everlasting memories and forever be in our hearts. We Love You Mom!
