Harlingen:  Doneen Poulton, passed away Tuesday afternoon December 29th at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Born July 25, 1940, in Mansfield, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Myrtle (Walker) and Mark Harper, Sr.  Doneen married the love of her life Bruce Poulton on December 15, 1962.  Their song was “Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair.”  Doneen graduated from the Ohio State University in 1963 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and graduated from Wright State University with her Master’s in 1969.  She retired from working as an elementary school teacher.  She was an avid OSU fan.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, friends, especially those in the Palm Garden Community, and attending her church St. Paul Lutheran of Harlingen.

She is survived by two brothers, Cecil (Janet) Harper and Carl Harper (Pat Elliott), all of Mansfield, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Vonnie Jones and Dave and Sherri Newquist; as well as many friends and acquaintances throughout the years.

In addition to her parents; Doneen was preceded in death by a stillborn infant daughter, Susan Marie Poulton; her husband of 48 years, Bruce Poulton on September 27, 2010; brothers, James Dailey and Mark Harper, Jr.; and sisters, Ilene Eckels Gardner and Beth Smith Burchett.

Doneen was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Harlingen Humane Society or charity of your choice.
