Donald "Don" Brauner, 76, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2023. He was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965. He became a disabled veteran and later worked for and retired from the Department of Revenue for the State of Missouri.
Don loved to tinker around in his “office” (aka toolshed), enjoyed playing golf, and going out to eat with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Emma; brothers, Jim and Richard; and brother and sisters-in-law, Joe, Faye, and Ruthie.
Don is survived by his wife Viola; daughter, Jennifer Maldonado (John); grandsons, Eric and Mark Soto, and Eliu Maldonado (Kristina); siblings, Pauline Herman, Frances Ann Giboney (Lonnie), Bob Brauner (Sharon); sister-in-law, Rose Evers (Dave); and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, March 6, 2023 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. At 5:00 p.m., the Honor Guard of the American Vietnam Veterans of Brownsville, Texas will render full military honors. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
