Donald A. Amos, 66, passed away September 19, 2013 at his residence due to cancer.
Donald was born September 30, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to Lony and Hilda (Pitsinger) Amos.  He graduated from Lanier High School in West Alexandria in 1964 and then attended the Miami University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Donald married Hope Salisbury on February 13, 1971 in Bucyrus, Ohio.  He worked and retired from GTE.
He was a member of the James A. Smith Masonic Lodge-Farmers Branch, the King Hiram-Farmersville Masonic Lodge and the Noblesville York Rite Lodge in Indiana. Donald attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen where he was member of the Men of Prayers Group and the Men’s Community Bible Study. Donald was a collector and had a collection of cars, lighthouses, rubber ducks, knives and a large John Wayne collection.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Amos of Harlingen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and John Bell of Bucyrus, OH; sister-in-law, Helen Salisbury of Irwin, PA; twelve nephews and nieces, sixteen great nephews and nieces; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lony and Hilda Amos.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at 4 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 601 Morgan Blvd., Harlingen, TX 78550 with Rev. Nathan Wendorf officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Reagan and Jake Vincent.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, especially Louise and Albert for their loving care.
