Delia Martinez de la Rosa, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo de la Rosa and her brother, Ben Martinez Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Coco Martinez, son-in-law, Rick Martinez and her three grandchildren, Cali, Enrique, and Marcos. She leaves behind her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carmen Gutierrez and Secundino, Lupita Jayroe and Julius, Mimi Crow and Richard and brother and sister-in-law, Tony Martinez and Carla.
She believed in Catholic education as she was educated at Villa Maria High School in Brownsville and Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Her twelve nieces and nephews will always remember their aunt’s encouraging words about their education and their future, and her excellent culinary skills. They will pass this on to her 22 grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.
The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father T. J. Martinez as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Villa Maria High School/Incarnate Word Academy, 244 Resaca Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78520.
