David Fuentes, Sr., 73, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.
David was born August 11, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Guadalupe Fuentes and Guadalupe Velasquez Fuentes. He attended W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, TX and graduated in 1956. David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960 and was employed by South Texas Sales from 1963 to 1998 where he retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and model building.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Eduwiges Rangel.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Ejinia Fuentes; children, Delia (Rey) Molina of San Antonio, Dave (Kate Denton) Fuentes of Aspen, CO, Corina (John) Cervantes of Arlington, TX; six grandchildren, Alessandro Cervantes, Nicolas Molina, Max Molina, Jameson Fuentes, Benjamin Cervantes, Ana Kate Fuentes; sisters, Irene Barrientez, Maria Reyes, Adela Perez, Guadalupe Steigman, Elvira Ruiz, Eduina Aguilar; and brothers, Israel Fuentes, Ismael Fuentes, Richard Fuentes, Rudy Fuentes, Ricky Fuentes, Marcos Fuentes, Alfonso Fuentes and Ezekiel Fuentes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, 10 a.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr. Harlingen, Texas with Pastor Fernando Salazar officiating.
