Harlingen:
David D. Bridges, 87, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 in Harlingen, Texas.
David was born on September 30, 1924 in Lincoln, Arkansas to Cleve and Marietta (Hughes) Bridges.  He spent his early years in San Benito before becoming a resident of Harlingen.
David served in the United States Army during W.W. II in Europe.  He worked for CPL for over 38 years retiring in 1986 and was a member of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen.  He loved to travel especially in his RV and see many parts of the country.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Hughes) Bridges of Harlingen; son, Richard (Tammy) Bridges of Harlingen; brothers, Melvin (Irma) Bridges of Madera, CA and Emery (Shirley) Bridges of Burnett, TX; grandchildren, Shannon Bridges of The Woodlands, TX and Jason and Shawn Bridges of Harlingen.
David was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wilmer, Roy and Burt; sisters, Thelma Tipton, Luella Goode, and Lillie Marie Bullard; and son, Michael Bridges.
Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at the 8th and Harrison St. Church of Christ Chapel, 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2012 with Jake Vincent officiating.  Burial services will be private at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations may be made to the Sunny Glen Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas 78586 or charity of choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Paul and Ruby for the loving care they gave to David.
