Daurice G. Russell

Daurice L. Goettel Russell of Harlingen, TX was born March 9, 1961. On April 24th, Daurice lost her lengthy battle with cancer at the age 56. She graduated from Harlingen High School in 1979 and worked for Valley Morning Star and Bargain Book in Harlingen for years.
Daurice is survived by her husband Doug Russell of Harlingen; children Joyce (Rich) Hacker of Hutto and Toni Cox (Scott Saunders) of Utopia; grandchildren Kalub, Madison, Savanna, Robert, Chandley and Ty; mother Minnie Goettel; sister D’Etta (Martin) Breuer; niece Amy Warner; nephews Marty Breuer, Joey (Grace) Breuer; great niece Shelby McMurray; and many cousins in and around Texas and West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her daddy, Robert Goettel in 1997.
At Daurice’s request, the family held a private burial service at Harlingen-Combes Cemetery on Saturday, April 29th.
Daurice had a love for animals; in her memory please make donations to the Harlingen Humane Society or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers throughout Daurice’s battle and a special thanks to the 3rd floor staff of Harlingen Medical Center. Sissy was a very special friend and loved by every person she met. She will be dearly missed.
