Darwin L. Tripp, 81, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.
Darwin was born February 2, 1929 in Charles City, Iowa to Charles Leo and Julia Tripp.  He attended the University of Iowa for two years and was the previous owner of Charles City Dairy Queen.  He was also the purchasing agent for Oliver Tractor Plant and the Vice President of Operations for White Consolidated Industries.  In the latter part of his life Mr. Tripp was a home builder and contractor financing most of the homes he constructed by himself. Darwin was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, Iowa and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golf, building houses and watching the TV show, Law & Order.
Darwin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Leo and Julia Tripp and his grandson Christopher James Tripp.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Tripp; his children, Gregory Allen Tripp of Tennessee, Jill Ann Strobel of South Dakota, Cynthia L. Tripp of Harlingen, TX and Charles D. Tripp and wife Karen of Harlingen, TX; grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Darren Miller, Brian Tripp, Christin Carlin and twins, Michael and Andrea Tripp; great grandson, Kadin Miller; and step great grandson, Finn Carlin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, 1 p.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Rev. Ahmed Aquino officiating.  Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in La Feria.
