San Benito, TX- Darrell Loy Wells, 85, passed away on April 10, 2012 in San Benito.
He graduated from Santa Rosa High School and attended Texas A&I; he served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Darrell is a retired supervisor from Southwestern Bell and was a member of the NRA, during his pastime he looked forward to his family reunions every year in June that were held in Oklahoma.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, his father, Marion Lee Wells and his mother, Jessie Wells; his brother, Bob Wells; his sister, Doris Bennett; his sons, John Robert Wells and William Allen Wells; and his grandson, SPC Darrell Wayne Shipp, KIA Baghdad, Iraq.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wells; his daughters, Regina L. (Doyle) Shipp and Linda Bayard both of Harlingen; his son, Carl Lee (Lisa) Wells of Harlingen; his brothers, Carl Wells of Kentucky and James (Shirley) Wells of Georgia; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; including several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with the family to be present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
A graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be his son, Carl Wells, his grandsons, Justin Wells, Zack Wells, Dylan Wells, and Vincent Wells, and his son-in-law, Doyle Shipp.
