Daphna Kaye Mirkov

May 21, 1957 — December 31, 2014

Harlingen, TX
Daphna Kaye Oaks-Mirkov, 57, went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
"Katy" was born in Harlingen, Texas on May 21, 1957 to George F. Oaks and Daphna Hargrove-Alsup. She graduated from Edinburg High School in 1975 where she was a sub debutante and cheerleader, and attended Pan American University, Edinburg.
Kaye was employed as a loan officer for many years then as an Administrative Assistant for Harlingen South High School. She was a God fearing Baptist who quoted scripture and gave testimony throughout her life; an artist, writer, avid hiker, world traveler, skier, and all around outdoor enthusiast.
Katy was special to all who had the privilege of meeting her, and our lives are forevermore blessed just to have known her. She will be greatly missed until we are once again reunited in Heaven. We will always love you our beautiful blue eyed "Katy Bug".
Kaye is survived by her husband, Dr. T. Erik Mirkov, son, Houston (Dana) Chance Broussard, mother, Daphna Hargrove-Alsup, sisters, Pamela Oaks-Gautreau, Tracy Rénée Alsup, and Crystal Lanée Alsup, nephews, Jacob Nelson Gautreau, Travis Logan Barrera, Samuel Cole Gautreau, Tristan Alsup Cavazos (her little partner), Richard Alsup Lowe, and Garrett R. Kobold, nieces, Jade Ashley Gautreau, Hobi R. McClain, Katelynn M. Kobold, and Mallory Hensley, grandson, Batson Wyatt Broussard, great nephew, William Jacob Gautreau, and faithful companion Pitty Pat. She was preceded in death by her father, George F. Oaks.
A memorial service celebrating Kaye's life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr., Harlingen, 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2014.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), www.LLS.org, in her memory.
