Dannie L. Goodwin

Dannie L. Goodwin, 80, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Dannie was born on January 19, 1937 in Joplin, MO to Virgil and Pauline Goodwin. He spent his childhood years in Osawatomie, KS where he loved to fish, swim in the rivers, and play ice hockey on the lakes. He then graduated from Osawatomie High School where he was a stared in football and track. After graduation he served in the United States Army Air Corp for two years in Germany as a paratrooper. After his military service he attended and later graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.
Dannie spent many years in the Kansas area where he and friend, Earl O’Connel were partners in the insurance and real estate business. He moved to Harlingen 23 years ago where he and Earl continued their real estate business.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Goodwin; daughter, Dr. Rachael Glasco and her husband, Jeremy; two grandchildren, Robin and Pamela Glasco; brother, Roger Goodwin; sister, Kathy Goodwin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, J.D. Goodwin.
A celebration of Dannie’s life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 6:00 PM, Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
Dannie had a wonderful life and will be solely missed by his family and many friends.
