Daniel Juarez Garza, 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. He was born in Rio Hondo, TX on May 20, 1929 to Calixto and Aparicia Juarez Garza.
Daniel attended school in Rio Hondo and was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, Company K, 169th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, United Nations Korea Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.
After returning home, Daniel became a state employee and worked at the Rio Grande State Chest Hospital, from where he retired. He was also an entrepreneur and business owner in San Benito. Daniel was an avid sports fan, loved to sing and play the guitar with his family and friends. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Felipa Trevino and Maria Escamilla; brother, Joe J. Garza; son, Rodolfo Pineda.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife, Eulalia G. Garza; children, Manuel (Rosa) Ruiz,III, Arnoldo (Diana) Garza, Rene Daniel (Rosie) Garza, Liezzeth “Liz” (Max) Garza Torres; sister-in-law, Elvira Pineda; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rene Daniel Garza, Johnny Joe Garza, Max Torres, Sr., Max A. Torres, Rudy Zepeda, and Noel Escamilla. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Lionel Trevino, Eloy Lopez, Carlos Gutierrez, Felipe Garza, Jr., Ronnie Garza, Joey Garza, Daniel R. Garza, Javier D. Ruiz, Rodolfo Pineda, Jr., Daniel Pineda, Noah Garcia, and Keelan Torres.
Daniel’s family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice Care; caregivers, Elvira Perez Pineda, Brenda Martinez, Juanita Rodriguez, Francisca Arredondo, and Marita Herebia for their compassion and care of their loved one.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at San Benito Funeral Home on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 1:00 to 9:00 PM. A Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at San Benito Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
