Daniel was born in Longmont, Colorado and moved to various states throughout childhood. He was the youngest of three sons to Patricia Raus and Richard Russell. Most of his teen years were spent in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He joined the Army in 1971 and became a radio operator. He spent more than a year in Germany before he was honorably discharged due to medical reasons. June 3, 1976 he married Kathleen Rosselot. They only had one child, Amanda. He dabbled in many careers: photography, master senior appraiser, and dive instructor. Tired of living in California, he moved the family to Texas in 1996. In 2002, he found his calling, Hearing Aid Dispenser. He enjoyed helping patients hear again. The joy on their faces was the best reward. Five years of classes earned him an official Audioprosthology degree. He worked for New Sound Hearing Center for 16 years until he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. After multiple surgeries, he became employed with Sams Club. A year and a half later, he was notified that he was at end stage congestive heart failure. Dr Reynolds Delgado transferred him to Baylor St Luke's to evaluate. He was a candidate for a LVAD (Left Ventricle Assist Device). January 18, 2019 the device was implanted and it changed his life. He was ready to enjoy retirement with his LVAD. He spent his last days on the beach, barbecuing in the backyard and tinkering with electronics. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, daughter, Amanda Russell and her husband Jose Garcia, Jr. , orange tabby cat, Carlie and brother, Richard Russell. As well as nieces : Leslie Russell-Chin, Amy Russell, Maggie Russell Adams and Erica Russell. Jeremy Russell is his nephew currently in the USAF.
