Dana "Sunshine" Waggoner passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her home. She was born in San Benito, Texas and raised in Harlingen, Tx. She attended Harlingen High School and then joined Southwest Airlines in 1974 as a Customer Service Agent, at the young age of 20. She was a longtime employee, retiring after 45 years of service. She worked at Dallas Love Field for several years and then transferred home to Harlingen's Valley International Airport, where she retired in 2020.
Sunshine was very committed to and proud of Southwest Airlines. In February 2015, Marv Esterly, Valley International Airport's Aviation Director, honored "Shine" for her nearly 40 years with Southwest. "It is our family. We grew up together.” Sunshine, 60, said. "If you get sick, they send you a pillow and a blanket and thoughts and prayers-and birthday cards, but we told them to stop so that they could save money." That is the Sunshine that her Southwest family knew... a giving, caring, very special person.

She is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Jean (Eddie) Sadler and Betty (Jim) Aguilar, along with nephews Jerry (Cindy) Sadler, Scott Sadler, Seth (Sarah) Tomlin and Skeet Tomlin and also nieces Shannon (David) Howard and Dana (Carol Campbell) Tomlin.
Those who knew her knew she had a great love for animals. She even "adopted" several stray cats and a dog from the Harlingen Airport. She supported the ASPCA for years. If you wish, you could make a donation in her name in lieu of flowers.

We will miss her.
