Harlingen/Palm Valley:
Dan E. Manix passed away at home on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 after a courageous two year battle with cancer.  Dan was born on October 28, 1957 in McAllen, Texas to Dan and Glenda Manix.
Dan, one of triplet brothers, grew up in Rio Hondo, Texas graduating from Rio Hondo High School in 1976.  After high school, Dan attended Southwest Texas University in San Marcos where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice.
Dan and his brothers Dennis and David began there life of public service early by serving on the Rio Hondo Volunteer Fire Department.  After graduating from college, Dan served as a police officer in Bishop, Texas for six years.  He eventually joined the Department of Public Safety and was stationed in Austin, Harlingen and Fredricksburg, Texas.  Dan served with the Dept. of Public Safety for 16 years before taking medical retirement.
Dan was preceded in death by his father Dan and mother Glenda.
He is survived by his daughter Debora Manix, sisters Marsha Marchbanks, Cheryl (Ray) Bailey of Harlingen, brothers Dennis Manix of Corpus Christi and David Manix from Rio Hondo.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Drs. Todd Shenkenberg and Oral James for their thoughtful care of our father and brother.
Pallbearers will be brothers, Dennis Manix, David Manix, nephews Jacob Howell, Michael Bailey, brother-in-law Ray Bailey and uncle, David Newell.  Honorary Pallbearers include law enforcement officers.
Graveside services will be held at Mont Meta Cemetery on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 4:00 P.M.  The service will be conducted by Rev. Gene Horton.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
