Dalila (Moreno) Murphy

September 8, 1951 — July 29, 2022

Dalila Moreno Murphy, entered into eternal rest on Thursday July 28, 2022. She was born September 8, 1951 in San Benito, Texas to her parents Mateo Davila and Juanita Hernandez Moreno.

Dalila graduated from San Benito High School in 1969 and attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville until becoming employed with Southwestern Bell in 1972. She spent most of her career with Southwestern Bell in Midland, Texas while residing in Odessa, Texas where she then retired.  She returned home six years ago to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Juanita H. Moreno.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Mateo D. Moreno, Jr. and Theodora D. ``Lolita'' (Mario) Cervantes; her nieces and nephews, Marcus Adrian (Shannon Padilla) Cervantes, Monica Ann (Ruben) Anaya and Mario Amador Cervantes; her grand-nephews, Bernardo Munoz Jr., Matthew Diego Cervantes,  Vincent and Alexander Munoz and Mason Andrew Cervantes. She is also survived by her aunt, Mary Lou Ramon, and numerous beloved cousins.

A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home on Sunday July 31, 2022 with family receiving visitors from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Services will conclude after the Mass.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Marcus Cervantes, Mario A. Cervantes II, Ruben Anaya, Bernardo Munoz, Jr., Matthew Diego Cervantes, Vincent Munoz, and Alexander Munoz. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Andrew Cervantes and Bobby Cantu.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Valley View Assisted Living and Windsor Atrium Nursing Home in Harlingen and a special thank you to Lisa Campos, personal caregiver, who gave so unselfishly to Dalila’s needs. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff of Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen for their care and attention to her during her illness.
