Cynthia Anne Treviño Muñoz
HARLINGEN — Cynthia Anne Treviño Muñoz, 71, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Solara Hospital in Harlingen. Cynthia was born in Harlingen, TX, on July 31, 1946 to Gilberto and Esther Moody Treviño.
Cynthia grew up in San Benito, TX, and graduated from San Benito High School. She met her husband, Mario, in Brownsville, TX, and they were married on August 14, 1971, in San Benito, TX. She was actively involved within her community and participated in multiple school organizations. She was a devoted mother and wife, and was active in her children’s extracurricular activities throughout their lives. She always went above and beyond; and, did it with a certain panache only she could do. She always put others before herself. Many friends of both Buddy & Bianca’s viewed her as their 2nd Mom growing up. Nothing brought Cynthia more joy than being with her grandchildren; they will forever love her and will miss her very much.
She is survived by her husband, Mario Guillermo Muñoz of Harlingen, TX; children, Mario “Buddy” Muñoz, II of Miami, FL, and Bianca (Joe) Christine Garza of Harlingen, TX; sisters Diane (Angel) Saenz of Edinburg, TX, and Debra (Harold) Taylor of McAllen, TX; three grandchildren, Michael Gavin, Joseph Aiden and Jaxon Alexander of Harlingen, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Esther Treviño of San Benito, TX, and her sister Esther Alice Cortez of McAllen, TX.
Honoring Cynthia’s wishes of cremation and following the final private family viewing, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home located at 710 Ed Carey Drive in Harlingen, TX. A reception will take place at the Muñoz residence following the memorial service.
