Cristina “Tina” Gonzalez went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on January 25, 2022. Cristina was born on June 23, 1925, in San Benito Texas, to Francisco and Amada Gonzalez.
She loved and served her family as she was a second mother to her brothers and sisters. Cristina had a true servant’s heart, and it was evident in how she cared for her parents and her sister Carmen until their passing. She owned and operated her snow cone stand, Tina Gs, where she could be found serving up delicious homemade flavors. Cristina also loved to tend to her cattle at her ranch where she was born and raised and lived most of her life.
She was also known by her red Ford Ranger which she drove with pride until her early nineties. She was a member of Templo El Salvador and enjoyed volunteering in her church and helping with the youth. Cristina was a woman who loved and served the Lord all the days of her life.
She spent the last 15 years being cared for by her loving sister Enedelia Cano, and her brother-in law Josue Cano, along with her niece, Denise Cano, who was a wonderful companion to her.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We rejoice knowing that our loving sister is in her eternal home with our Lord and Savior.
Left to treasure Cristina’s memory are her sisters, Enedelia (Josue) Cano, and Rogelia Balderas; brothers, Raul (Noelia) Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez, Abel Gonzalez and Reynaldo (Dora) Gonzalez; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gonzalez and Emilia Gonzalez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Francisco and Amada Gonzalez; her brothers, Ramiro and Reymundo Gonzalez; her sisters, Paula Leal, Carmen Gonzalez, and Acelia Huerta; her nephew, Reymundo Gonzalez, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Lupe Balderas; and sisters-in-law, Ester Gonzalez and Sara Gonzalez
The family wishes to thank Cristina’s caretaker, Concepcion Natera, for the wonderful, compassionate care she provided. Cristina and her family were blessed to have Concepcion’s help.
The Gonzalez family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral. A celebration of Cristina’s life and God’s faithfulness will begin at 6:30 p.m. A Homegoing Service will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Josue Cano Jr, Jeremiah Cano, Frank Gonzalez, Efrain Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez Jr and Ramiro Gonzalez Jr. Denise Cano will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
