Consuelo C. Atkinson

July 21, 1927 — September 21, 2012

San Benito, TX- Consuelo Atkinson, 85, was chosen to join the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2012 after a 4 year courageous battle against lung cancer. Consuelo, who lovingly touched the lives of all who knew her, has left behind a legacy of her love for her family and our Lord.
She was born in Beaumont, Texas; as a little girl, the family moved to Zaragoza, Mexico. Eventually her family settled in San Benito, Texas. She met her future husband, Ernesto, just weeks before he was shipped off to the Pacific during World War II. Their paths crossed in San Benito, and Ernesto was immediately smitten by her beauty. After the war, they were married at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church on April 25, 1949.
She raised 5 children who were her pride and joy. Consuelo’s hobbies centered around instilling strong family values and providing a loving home environment for her husband and children. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, traveling and keeping physically and mentally active. Her endless devotion to her Lord transcended to her neighbors, friends, relatives, and grandchildren which she related to in a very special way.
