Comer Carl Kidd

April 12, 1927 — April 4, 2008

HARLINGEN:
On April 12, 1927 in Ethuridge, Tennessee, Comer Kidd was born to Noble Clarkson and Mattie Maude Kidd and passed away on April 04, 2008 at his residence in Harlingen, Texas.
In 1934, he came to the Rio Grande Valley.  Comer Kidd graduated from Harlingen High School in 1946 and joined the Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne.  Comer and Doris Jean Labar were married in 1946.
Comer has been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1947.  He has been an enthusiastic supporter of Calvary Christian School and has devoted his time and resources to Christian education.
A farmer and a family man, Comer lived a good life.  He farmed in the Rio Grande Valley from 1948 to 2008 when he retired to garden.  His sons and grandchildren have learned so much about kindness and patience from watching the way he lived his life.
Comer's faith in God and assurance that Jesus had paid the price to save him led him to live a life of faith, depending on God to take care of him and his family.  In his last days, this same faith brought peace for both Comer and Jean.
Comer worked for Valley Grain and Elevator Co. for twenty years and afterwards started his own seed business, Choice Seed.  He dedicated the profits of this business to Calvary Christian School and found great joy in his decision.  God greatly blessed his gift.
Comer is survived by his wife, Jean Kidd, and his two sons, Mark (Linda) Kidd and Jonathan (Kellye) Kidd.  He will be missed by his grandchildren Shelly Guymon, Jeannie Daughtrey, Amy Renard, Julia Winterson, Laura Kidd, Lisa Kuhlmann, Stephen Kidd, David Kidd, Anna Kidd, Victoria Kidd, and Denis Kidd, his great grandchildren, Madeline and Katherine Renard, and numerous nephews and nieces.  He is also survived by his brothers Noble Kidd and Joe Kidd and his sisters Rose O'Lone and Lela Medley.
Comer Kidd was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Wilson, and his daughter Linda Daughtrey.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Helm officiating.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Lee Labar, Tim Ryan, Larry Prater, Jerry Bowen, Dan Garland, Charlie Zeissel, Stephen Labar and Manny Davila.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Comer's life to Calvary Christian Library Construction Fund at 1815 N. 7th Street, Harlingen, TX  78550.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Leibert and Family Practice Residency Program for their help.
