Coach Monty Lee Woodall, 64, passed away April 13, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born to the late William Earl and Jackie Lee Woodall on October 3, 1956 in Weslaco, Texas.
Monty served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree and became a professional educator and athletic coach. Monty had a passion for coaching kids in multiple sports including football, basketball, volleyball, and powerlifting.
For more than twenty years, he taught and coached at Harlingen High School, Harlingen South High School, Lyford High School, and Marine Military Academy. He was a certified strength and conditioning coach recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association..
Left to treasure his memory are Monty’s children, Caleb Michael Lee Woodall, Joshua Cameron Woodall, and Courtney Dawn Woodall; grandchildren, Heather Dawn Quinones, Amelia Marie Quinones, Caddock Michael Woodall, Maddox Lee Woodall, and Eleonor Mae Singleton; siblings, Cynthia Ann Woodall, Janice Villarreal, Lisa West, Stanley West; his colleagues and the hundreds of young people that he positively influenced.
Monty was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Jackie L. Woodall.
Visitation will take place Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. Coach Woodall’s funeral service will be Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home Chapel. (Click the link below the view a live-stream of the funeral service.)
In honor of Coach Woodall, those attending the visitation of funeral service are encouraged to wear their school colors or athletic jersey.
