Clifford E. Muir

Dateline: Harlingen: Clifford E. Muir, 90, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at Twinbrooke Nursing Home in San Benito, Texas.
Cliford was born on June 23, 1916 in Hurley, NM to Orin Vance Muir and Louise Paige Muir. He grew up in the Hurley, NM area and later attended college in California for 3 1/2 years. Shortly after attending college he joined the US Army Air Corp and was transferred to the Harlingen Air Base in 1941.
In 1942 while stationed in Harlingen he met and married, Tommy Lucile Dicus whom preceded him in death on June 27, 2000. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp at a Lieutenant during WW II and retired as a Captain after the war.
Clifford was employed and remained in the valley after the war. His talents were many but his love of all things mechanical was known best to those who knew him. Clifford spent much of his life building and fixing things for fun and profit. On many occasions he took time to share his knowledge of technical things with those he loved. His efforts enriched the lives of the people he served from the science fair projects he sponsored to the medical equipment he installed and repaired for many area doctors.
Clifford will be remembered by those who loved him for his courage and determination. He faced the many physical and medical challenges in his life with grace and dignity and was an inspiration to those who knew him.
He is survived by daughter, Pam Funk and her husband, Tommy; sons, Thomas Vance Muir and wife, Elaine, Clifford Edward Muir, Jr. and his wife, Janis; five grandchildren, Traci Muir Gonzalez and her husband, Alex, Tommy Funk, Jr. and his wife, Teri, Paige Funk Matlock and her husband, Scott, Jennifer Muir Reeves and husband, Donald and Trey Muir; four great grandchildren, Jordan Funk, Jack Matlock, Madeline Funk and Benjamin Reeves; sister, Marilou Barnes and her husband, Paul of Albuquerque, NM. He also was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jeanette and brother, Orin B. Muir.
