Claudia Bagby Cox

August 24, 1949 — July 12, 2011

Harlingen:
Claudia Bagby Cox was born August 24, 1949 in Eagle Pass, TX to Clyde J. and Pauline Juanita Bagby.  She spent her early years in Oregon and moved to Texas with her mother and two sisters in 1963.
Most of Claudia’s career was spent as an Administrative Assistant in the fields of finance, banking, and building construction. In 1991, Claudia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was forced to retire.
Claudia was a talented, accomplished singer who enjoyed singing with the Rio Hondo Baptist Church television program for over 25 years, a trio with her husband and sister-in-law (the Sonshiners), at the Winter Texan RV Parks and various venues throughout the community, and at RHB Church. Claudia fought a long, trying battle with Multiple Sclerosis and an array of disabilitating ailments most of her life, yet she strived to help others by showing them sincere love, which she so freely gave.
She went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of July 12, 2011.  Claudia is survived by the love of her life, husband of 28 years, Douglas and miracle daughter, Heather Cathleen both of Harlingen.  She is also survived by her mother and step-father, JuaNita and John Brodecky; her mother-in-law, Judy Cox; her sister, Christine Heinrich; her sister, Renee Bagby; her sister-in-law, Roxie Adams (Melvin); her brother-in-law, William Cox; and the following nieces and nephews; Richard and Robert Ferrell, Melanie, Patrick and John David Heinrich, Becky and Melanie Adams, and Alan Cox.  Also surviving is her best friend forever, Ruth Stafford.  Claudia was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Zoe Alexander and biological father, Clyde Bagby.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the following; Dr. James Castillo and the staff of Odyssey Hospice, especially Vanessa, Tami, Louise and Keith; care-giver, Stella Zapata; and a big thank you to Dr. Aldon Williams for his years of pain management.
A Celebration of Claudia’s life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
A family visitation will be held also at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Friday, July 15, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
