Clara Dorothy “Dot” Cheney passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.
Dot was born on May 4, 1922 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Clarence W. Holden and Mae Elizabeth Luten.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Pauline (Holden) Woods of California.
Dot is survived by her husband of 68 years, CDR Don Cheney, USN Retired and a son, Don Cheney, Jr. (Frances), USAF Retired, of Ripley, Tennessee.
She was active in charitable and volunteer efforts during Don’s 30 plus years Navy career and upon their retirement in 1971 continued doing good and sharing with others through the Valley Baptist Hospital Volunteers, the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekkahs, and Home Extension Community Services. Her relief from earthly cares and suffering is well deserved.
There will be no public funeral services. Private remembrance will be held at later date.
