Charles Oakley Tice was suddenly called to be with our heavenly Father on Friday, October 5, 2018.
He was born on May 10, 1934 in Binghamton, NY to Frederick A. Tice Jr. and Elizabeth Witteman Tice.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ludivina (Lily) of 61 years and children: Charles, Louis (Tammy), Tim (Jackie), and Ruth (Thomas).
Charles was a cherished grandfather to Zachary, Christopher (Crystal), Mary Beth (Phillip), Kenneth (Jessica), Kelly, Kyle (Hollister), Elyse, Savannah and great-granddaughter Merida.
Charles is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Williams and Sharon Ashton and sister-in-law Annalise as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Fred.
After graduation from Bellville Academy, Bellville NY, he joined the Air Force. Charles met and married Ludivina Lily Espinoza on May 4, 1957. After 20 years of service to our country Charles retired from the Air Force. He then worked for and retired from General Electric. Charles enjoyed working with his hands building things from wood, working the land and cooking for family events. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting and building model train sets.
Charles’ family will be receiving friends and relatives on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the San Benito Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Harlingen, 501 E. Van Buren Ave., with Rev. Wade Hood officiating. On Thursday, at 2:00 PM, Charles will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Loaves and Fishes, 514 South E. Street, Harlingen Texas 78550.
