Charles R. Lehman

Charles Robert Lehman, Jr., 65, passed away on August 6, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife, Irma Hernandez, and his children, Amy (Josh) Lehman Meeks, Charles Robert Lehman III, and Kassandra Lehman.
Bob was born on December 29, 1944 in Brownsville, Texas to Charles Robert Lehman, Sr. and Grace Bramhall Lehman.  He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1963 and attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, and Texas Southmost College in Brownsville prior to joining the US Army in 1966.   Bob served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 39th Engineering Battalion Company A from 1967 – 1968.
Bob was in the retail furniture business for many years and was associated with Hirons & Trower Furniture of Edinburg, Stroud’s Furniture and Furniture Showrooms in Harlingen, Edelsteins Furniture and Designers Discount Showroom in Brownsville.  He also owned and operated Lehmann’s Furniture in downtown Harlingen from 1982-1996.  An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed fishing and travelling in Mexico.
Bob is also survived by his two sisters, Judy (Bob) Voreis, and Mary Jane Lehman, and his grandsons Henry Matthew Meeks, and Nathaniel Lehman Meeks.  He is also survived by his nieces Laura Gausepohl Fowkes, Sarah (Pedro) Walker Dorantes, and nephews, Brian Voreis, Aaron (Belinda) Voreis, Kyle (Monica) Voreis and  Jacob (Tracy) Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Robert Lehman, Sr, and Grace Bramhall Lehman.
A memorial service will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or a favorite charity.
