Charles “Chuck” Hurd, 73, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 4, 2007 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born March 4, 1934 in Wynona, OK to Milton Hurd and Eileen Kearns Hurd. He and his wife, Jean relocated to South Padre Island, TX in 1995 from San Diego, CA after their retirement.
Chuck is survived in death by his lovely wife of 53 years, Jean Hurd, his daughters, Charlene Hurd Campos of Laguna Vista, TX and Teresa Hurd Gross and her husband, Larry Gross of San Diego, CA, his grandchildren, Thomas and Jaime Campos, Emily and Olivia Gross, brothers, Bill, Robert, Matt and Joe Hurd and sister, Ruthie Hough.
Chuck will be remembered by many as the smiling, friendly greeter of the Port Isabel Wal Mart. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen, TX and on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, OK.
A graveside service will be held, 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Powell Cemetery in Hominy, OK with Full Military Honor’s.
