Harlingen:
Charles W. Cooper, 94, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence in Harlingen after a short illness.
Charles was born June 14, 1917 in Peru, IN to Wilbur and Bertha Cooper.  He was a graduate of Metea High School and Bradley Institute in Peoria, IL.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.
Charles retired as a self employed jeweler and watch maker.  He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Indiana and Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, IN.  He was a Baptist by faith and attended the First Baptist Church in Harlingen.
Charles loved to travel and spend time with his family.  He enjoyed square dancing, watching sports and hunting as well.
He is survived by a son, Phil Cooper and wife, Nancy of Harlingen and daughter, Marilyn Rice and husband, Carroll of Camden, IN.  He had 3 grandchildren, Danielle Webb and husband, Joel of Harlingen, Jim Cooper and wife, Dalila, and Michelle Pearson and husband, Jason of Delphi, IN.  He also had 4 great-grandchildren, Marshall and Nathaniel Webb of Harlingen and Tanner and Cole Pearson of Delphi, IN.  His beloved wife of 66 years, Louise preceded him in death in 2004.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the family present from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday, July 18, 2011 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Graveside services only will be held at Harlingen/Combes Cemetery, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating.  Full Military Honors will be held at the gravesite conducted by the American Legion Post #205.
Pallbearers will be James Cooper, Joel Webb, Jim Workman, Gilles Massicottes, Marshall Webb and Nathan Webb.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 1417 E. Austin, Harlingen, TX  78550.
