It with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles F. Coe (Chuck) on February 29, 2024, at his home with his loving wife, Linda by his side in San Benito, Texas. Chuck was born on June 26, 1950 in Johnson City Tennessee, son of the late Charles F. Coe and Doris June Coe.
Chuck attended Bearden High School in Knoxville, TN. He entered the US Army at the age of 17. He served 3 tours of duty in the Vietnan War with the 82nd 101st and 173rd Airborne Brigade, 75th Ranger Battalion. He was honorably discharged in 1974 after serving bravely, his country for seven year. He joined his father's trucking industry as a driver and worked his way to management. He then retired in 2003 due to his military disabilities.
After retirement he and his wife, Linda enjoyed traveling through the United States and Canada in their RV, then spending their winters in San Benito, TX at the Fun N Sun RV Resort. While at Fun N Sun he was an accomplished Golfer Chuck was a very good singer and loved to perform at Karaoke, he also was a member of the Fun N Sun woodshop where he spent many hours making furniture and many woodworking gifts for his loved ones. In 2015 Fun N Sun became their permanent home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a infant son (Anthony) and many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of almost 40 years on March 23, 2024.
Chuck is survived by 3 sons, Troy E. Coe (Bonnie) of Brandon Mississippi, Clifford J. Cross Jr. (Christina) of Conroe, TX. Michael J. Coe of Wilmington, DE and one daughter, Sonja R. Alley (John) of Alcoa, TN. Three grandchildren, Rusty Wallace (Nicole) of Alcoa, TN., Sarah Cross Scott (Austin) of Conroe, TX., Madison Guntle (Wyatt) of Conroe, TX. and two great grandchildren Presley and Hayes Scott , they are 5 months old twins and the light of his life. He was also survived by three siblings, Sherlene Doyle (Jason)of Staunton, VA. Kenneth E. Coe (Delisa) of Sturats Draft, VA, Kimberly Coe Johnson of Palmyra, VA., One sister- in- law Gale R. Taylor of New Castle, DE., also many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be held at Fun N Sun on March 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Chuck will be buried at the Houston National Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors in Houston, Texas on April 19, 2024 at 1:30 p.m..
