San Benito, TX- Cesar Gonzalez, 81, entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2010.
Cesar was born on July 27, 1929 to Agustine and Guadalupe Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Consuelo Gonzalez, 1 daughter Consuelo Gonzalez of San Antonio, 3 sons Ramiro (Yolanda), Rolando (Jenice) and Gus (Janie) Gonzalez all of San Benito. 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children, 3 sisters Ida Maldonado of Corpus Christi TX, Ambarina Garcia (Jesus) of San Benito, Maggie Rodriguez of Corpus Christi TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cesar served and represented the City of San Benito like no other. He served as Commissioner for numerous years and Mayor for San Benito for 7 terms.
He also held positions on several State Organizations in Texas for the benefit of the city of San Benito. He was a veteran of WWII and was honorably discharged to care for his family. Pallbearers are Gus Gonzalez, Cesar Gonzalez, Mando Gonzalez, Jose Camey, Ralph De La Garza, Ken Medders. Honorary Pallbearers, Rolandito Gonzalez, Beto Ramirez and Charlie Lopez.
Special thanks to his hospice providers from Odyssey Hospice, staff and volunteers of the Atrium Place and Nursing Home in San Benito.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 29, 2010 from 3:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M with a Holy Rosary to recited at 7:00 P.M that same evening at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 30, 2010 at 1:00 P.M at St. Benedicts.
Internment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
