Celia O. Gonzalez

Celia O. Gonzalez left this world peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2018, and was reunited in our Lord’s Kingdom with her beloved husband of 50 years, Refugio Gonzalez.  A lifelong resident of the Rio Hondo area, Celia was born February 5, 1934 to Victor Ochoa, Sr. and Paulita Ruiz Ochoa.

Celia lived a long, blessed life that included 20 years working as a teacher at All Faith’s Christian Academy where she was affectionately known as “Mrs. G”. She truly enjoyed working with children, along with other activities that brought her joy such as cooking for her family, especially during the holidays, crocheting, knitting, and all day shopping outings with her daughters or her sister.

Celia is preceded in death by parents, husband, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 nephews.

Left to cherish so many wonderful memories are her children: Sylvia (Danny) Ledet, Jr., Maricela (Luis) Ramos, Claudio (Babs) Gonzalez; grandchildren, step grandchildren: Daniel Ledet, Jr., David Ledet, Andy (Kendra) Jones, Buster (Noelia) Jones, and great-grandchild/step great-grandchildren: Ariel Hailie Ledet, Jonathan Jones, Abby Jones, Aaron Jones, Kailey Jones, Kaitlyn Jones, and Anakin Garcia. Also, survived by 2 brothers: Jesus (Lucinda+) Ochoa, Selestino (Diana) Ochoa, Sr., and sister, Josefina Salazar as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Special thank you to Safe Haven Hospice (Jacob, Oscar, & Rosie), All Texas Health Care, and Estela Guerra who so lovingly and tenderly helped with the care of our mom.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm with a Prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20,, 2018 at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Ledet, Jr., David Ledet, Victor Salazar, Andy Jones, Selestino Ochoa, Jr., and Herman Gutierrez, Jr.
