HARLINGEN, TX:
Cecil Warner born on August 25, 1911 and passed away, April 10, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. He was 95 years old and proud he lived to be the oldest known Warner.
He was born in Boonville, Arkansas, and later moved to Cabot, Arkansas where he attended school and lived on a farm owned by his father. In the early thirties he came to the Rio Grande Valley to visit an uncle and there he met and married Novell Campbell. He took her back to Arkansas but returned to the Valley in less than a year. There he was given three acres of land by his father-in-law. His home is located on the New Combes Highway where he resided the rest of his life.
Mr. Warner owned a country grocery store and a lumber yard business on New Combes Highway. In addition he worked as a carpenter. He built his home and the homes for his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wiley Warner and Lovie Marie Cummings Warner, his three brothers; a son, Aubie Warner and a granddaughter, Lynda Haynes Nott.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Novell; his children, Hazel (Bart) Haynes, James Albert (Janis), Tony (Antonia) and Wayne Warner; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A family gathering will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 13, 2007, 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Harlingen with Rev. John Cole, Rev. Wade Hood and Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
