Weslaco:
Cecil Ray Truitt, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his residence in Weslaco. He was born on August 4, 1925 in Arnett, OK to Albert and Muyrel Truitt.
Cecil was a longtime resident of the Weslaco area. He owned and operated Truitt Roofing Co. for over 30 years and was a onetime Policeman and truck driver as well. He honorably served during World War II and the Korean War with the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marine’s. He later served with the Coast Guard.
He is survived by sons, Johnny Truitt (Lori), Ray Truitt (Arlene); daughters, Sheree Ontto (Art), Julie Robinson, and Tina Kay Truitt (Joe); stepson, Roy Moravitz (Mary); sisters, Billie Courtermanche (Joe) and Peggy McCormick (Randall). Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Special caregivers Michael Lee Free Pemelton, Maria Saenz and Tina Kay Truitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Muyrel Truitt, wife, Janette Truitt, and sisters, Vera Hallbeck and Shirley Davis.
Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr., in Harlingen.
Graveside services only will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, 10:00 AM, Monday, July 27, 2015 with the Rev. Dr. Steven Parker officiating. Full Military Honors will also be conducted by the VFW Post #2035.
