Catherine O. Snider

Catherine Oberheu Snider, 85 passed away April 4th at 11:09 in the presence of loving family at Valley Baptist Hospital. Born on Valentine’s Day 1933 in Grafton, Wisconsin to Arnold and Linda Oberheu.  Catherine graduated from Cedarburg High School 1951.  She was awarded the DAR her Sr. year in high school.

Catherine met her husband, Bruce Snider, on March 10, 1951 in Milwaukee when he was stationed at the Great Lakes Navy Base. They were married in Cedarburg, WI at 1st Immanuel Lutheran Church on October 24th, 1953.

They moved to Santa Rosa in 1959, then to Harlingen in 1961. Catherine started working at First National Bank (now Capital One) in 1959. She retired from the San Benito Bank and Trust as the Executive Vice President in 2001.  Catherine continued giving time to her church, St. John Lutheran church in San Benito, Zonta International, and Rio Grande MHMR volunteering until her death.

Catherine is survived by her husband Bruce, son Bryan (wife Jackie) Maynardville, TN, granddaughter Katrin (St. Paul, MN), brother James (wife Sherry) Oberheu Cedarburg, WI, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Dr. Kenneth (Nicky) Oberheu, several uncles, aunts, and cousin.

Catherine loved cooking, working in her yard & rose garden, sewing & quilt making, and helping others.

Visitation hours will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday April 10th, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 2pm on Wednesday April 11th with graveside services following at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. John Lutheran Church in San Benito.
