Castulo Ybarra

March 26, 1938 — February 2, 2015

SAN BENITO, TX. – Castulo Ybarra, age 76, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Castulo was born on March 26, 1938 in San Benito, Texas to his parents, Pedro Ybarra and Celsa Sifuentes.

Castulo proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also loved spending time at Ornelas Bakery in Rio Hondo, fishing, and helping out in any which way he could. Castulo dedicated his life to his family, and will be deeply missed by his family and all of those who knew him. Rest in peace, grandpa. You are now walking the streets of gold with grandma, enjoying some sweet bread and coffee.

His loving wife, Carmen R. Ybarra; mother, Celsa Sifuentes; son-in-law, Jose Juan Ornelas, Sr.; and sister, Juana Garcia, precede him in death.

Survivors include his daughters Alma D. Pena (Jacobo) and Griselda J. Ornelas; grandchildren Carmen Sauceda (Rick), Stacy Sauceda (Abraham), Vanessa Sauceda, Alexis Pena, Jesenia Pena, Jerikah Pena, Amanda Flores (Genaro), Jose Juan Ornelas, Jr. (Annie), Eric Ornelas (Melissa), and Krystal Ornelas. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings Julian Sanchez, Dominga Reyes, Juan Sanchez, and Nena Rivera.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, with a recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for seven o’clock Wednesday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning in St. Theresa Catholic Church. Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park with military honors to be conducted at the gravesite under the auspices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars # 2035.

Pallbearers will be Jose Juan Ornelas, Jr., Ricardo Villagomez, Sr., Abraham Escobedo, Jacobo Pena, Hector Vivar, and Bladimir Lara, Sr.
